Welcome to the wonderful world of house sitting! Believe it or not, I’ve been incorporating this means of travel into my journey for over the past 7 years. Free Places to Find House Sitting Gigs
A great way to find more free house sitting gigs is to join Facebook groups for a region that interests you. For example, I was house sitting in Peru’s Sacred Valley. I was able to become a member of private Facebook groups, especially those housing and market groups and join them. Oftentimes, locals post ads looking for short-term house sitters. Utilize these expat pages and groups to find free and unpaid house opportunities.
Network
While house sitting, go out of your way to meet your new neighbors. Awesome neighbors are SO important. I’ve met some incredible people who started out as neighbors became my friends, and when it was time to leave, they were my family. I was able to network and thankfully be recommended in the community by word of mouth referrals.
