This is a map and basic overview on how to take a day trip to explore the diverse Truso Gorge. The Truso Gorge hike is more commonly referred to as the Truso Valley and is one of the most popular day trips from Kazbegi. There are lots of things to do in Kazbegi (Stepantsminda), besides the main draw of the picturesque Gergeti Trinity Church. The mountain village warrants at least a few days.

The casual Truso Gorge hike begins near the village of Kvemo Okrokana and ends at the Zakagori Fortress. At the Zakagori Fortress, find border guards on patrol, keeping a watchful eye on the (unwelcome) Russian-occupied region of South Ossetia.
