Confession: I ate so much Khachapuri while in Georgia and my favorite had to have been from, Acharuli Khachapuri Center. This simple restaurant has tons of outdoor seating, fast service, and giant portions of the beloved Adjarian Khachapuri.

Being on the sea, many locals love starting the morning with the regional Adjarian Khachapuri. Batumi’s version is notorious for their homemade bread that is shaped like a boat. This classic dish is filled with delicious cheese, smothered with butter, and is topped with a perfectly barely cooked egg. Locals declare that the boat-like shaped bread is due to the fact that Batumi is a port town.

The best way to eat this breakfast favorite is to do as the locals do! First, pull off the warm edges of bread. Use it to stir up the egg, cheese, and butter. If the calories don’t scare you enough, why not toss on some more butter, which comes as a heaping and complementary side dish!

Acharuli Khachapuri Center serves up coffee, including Turkish coffee. But, do as the locals do! Skip the morning coffee and instead wash down this breakfast favorite with the florescent green beverage of choice, Tarragon Lemonade.

Khinkali House “Kalakuri”

Located away from the tourist hub, Khinkali House Kalakuri is worth the walk. Kalakuri is serving up authentic Georgian cuisine and showcases the beloved Khinkali. Although they offer up only two different types of Khinkali, meat and cheese, they do them well. The service is friendly and fast, and the wine pours are generous. Sometimes they have live traditional music to accompany dinner.

Heart of Batumi is a cozy Georgian restaurant on a quiet neighborhood street. The restaurant is small, but there are a few nice outdoor seating options. The food is fresh and served with love. The portions are smaller, so it’s an excellent place to indulge in an authentic Georgian supra.

Secretly tucked away one block from the bustling Europe Square, is the unique K2 Cafe. The food is traditional Georgia cuisine, but with a playful twist. The outdoor patio is incredible and the restaurant almost feels like an interactive creative space. Look for the working wooden swing and walls splashed with bright colors and murals. The food is just as imaginative as the terrace. K2 was my favorite restaurant in Batumi.

Luca Polare has a daily rotating menu and other pastries and cakes. They also serve up coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and blended juices. Enjoy a cone out in the nearby park, or visit their small pop-up stand on the beach.

Large slices of cake run around 3.5 GEL ($1.25 USD).
