How to Spend the Perfect Day in Prague’s Vinohrady Neighborhood
The Vinohrady neighborhood is one of Prague’s most trendy districts. This desirable neighborhood in Prague boasts contemporary coffee shops, leafy green spaces, modern shops, sprawling parks, vibrant squares, and even its very own vineyard. However, that should come as no surprise as the neighborhood had humble roots as Royal Vineyards.
There are plenty of things to do in Vinohrady Prague. I spent nearly 2 months in Prague house sitting and spent the majority of my time exploring this district. While a majority of visitors focus their time on Prague’s Old Town and nearby New Town, Vinohrady neighborhood boasts much of the same charm, but with fewer crowds.
If time allows on your Prague itinerary, it’s easy to spend one full day in the Vinohrady neighborhood.

Enjoy a Coffee and Breakfast in Vinohrady Neighborhood

Start the day with a coffee and pastry from a vibrant coffee shop in the Vinohrady neighborhood. There are also places to grab a hearty breakfast in the neighborhood.
Mezi Srnky
Mezi Srnky is one of the top-rated bistros in Vinohrady Prague. This small little cafe serves up only the most local provisions. This is one of the most popular breakfast spots in Prague, so there might be a cue. The line moves fast and is worth the wait!
Spižírna 1902
Spižírna 1902 is a picture-perfect coffee shop with an “Instagram-worthy ceiling.” Grab a table, or a high-top stool with a window view, or plop down on a cozy couch, and sip on delicious specialty coffee drinks. There are enticing baked goods, or order off their hearty breakfast menu that focuses on local produce.
Their excellent menu makes it a popular place for locals to have brunch. From the ambiance and the tasty rotating menu to the tempting bakery case, Spižirna 1902 is a shining example of coffee culture done right in Prague.
Coffee Room
Looking for one of the best coffee shops in Vinohrady? Head to the Coffee Room, a small but fabulous cafe in Vinohrady that serves up a long list of specialty coffees. The space is small, but they also serve breakfast until noon on the weekdays.
Antonínovo pekařství
Antonínovo pekařství is Prague’s favorite local bakery chain and there’s one in the heart of the Vinohrady district. Do as the locals do and order, vajíčková, an egg spread that is slathered on a sliced baguette. All of their pastries pair well with a fresh coffee. The popularity of this place is obvious from the line, but it moves quickly.
Stroll Through a Farmer’s Market in the Vinohrady Neighborhood

After coffee, why not take a stroll through the neighborhood farmer’s market? Trhy na Jiřaku is a popular market that takes place in the main square of Jiřího z Poděbrad. This is a convenient market to visit in Vinohrady since it has its own metro stop.
This farmer’s market is one of the best in Prague with stands filled with local fresh fruits, veggies, pastries, and more. Here find tons of artisanal products, and food being prepared fresh from the market. Take in views of the unique Chuch Most Sacred Heart of the Lord.
During the summer months, look for beautiful flowers. This market is paving the way in Prague for pushing the green movement. You won’t find any plastic bags here.
Special events are happening weekly at this Vinohrady market. From live music to “special guests” grilling up their favorite vegan dishes, the market has a diverse range of activities.
Trhy na Jiřaku Farmer’s Market | Find it here: Square of Jiřího z Poděbrad, Vinohrady, Prague 3 | Season: mid-February to mid-December / Wednesday – Friday: 8:00 – 18:00 / Saturday: 8:00 – 14:00
There is another Farmer’s Market on the outskirts of the district, Trhy na Tyláku. This market runs throughout the week and is a great market to visit during the early part of the week.
Trhy na Tyláku Farmer’s Market | Find it here: Praha 2, Tylovo Nám., Nové Město | Season: mid-April to mid-November / Monday – Friday: 8:00 – 18:00
Explore Náměstí Míru
Close to the markets and a metro hub, Náměstí Míru is a great plaza to explore in the Vinohrady neighborhood. Náměstí Míru translates to Peace Square but is quite a lively plaza in the neighborhood.
The centerpiece of the square is the Basilica of St. Ludmila. This neo-Gothic church is free to enter and is surrounded by sculptures, and benches, and makes for an excellent space to people watch.
During the Christmas Season, Náměstí Míru boasts one of the city’s most popular Christmas Markets.
There are numerous restaurants and bars lining the plaza. In fact, the Prague Beer Museum which highlights Czech microbreweries is just across the street.
Try the Czech Lunch Menu Craze

In Prague, the lunch menu is a great way to eat traditional food, but for a cheaper price tag. Not only is this common in the Vinohrady neighborhood but throughout the entire Czech Republic. Lunch menus usually run through the week, Monday through Friday.
In Vinohrady Prague, the weekday lunch menu runs at Lokál Korunní and U Bulínů, two popular restaurants in the Vinohrady neighborhood.
Lokál Korunní
Lokál Korunní is located on the corner of Korunní Street in the Vinohrady neighborhood. These trendy local chains are scattered in all of the hip neighborhoods in Prague.
On top of their delicious food, find them pouring up mugs of Pilsner Urquell and the beloved Black Kozel, a black unfiltered beer. These establishments vary depending on each location, but all focus on locally sustained ingredients that change with the season.
Lokáls are always busy and usually filled to the brim with locals and tourists alike.
U Bulínů
Another great option to sample a hearty lunch menu in Vinohrady Prague is at U Bulínů. Here find not only massive portions, but also delicious food. The lunch menu is only in Czech, but the servers are willing to help translate with a smile.
U Bulínů boasts a lovely garden patio located out back, but the interior is cozy and simple. The menu price is extremely reasonable for the large portions.
Detour Pit-stop in the Vršovice Neighborhood
After lunch, take a quick detour to Krymská Street. Although not located in the Vinohrady neighborhood, Krymská Street is less than a five-minute walk from my lunch recommendation of U Bulínů.
This hip street is part of Prague’s Vršovice neighborhood. There are tons of eateries, brew pubs, interesting and unique shops, a bookstore, and an independent movie theater. Krymská feels a little more rugged and off-the-beaten path.
After strolling and checking out Krymská Street head to the nearby Havlíčkovy Sady to relax!
Grébovka (Havlíčkovy Sady) Incredible Gardens in Vinohrady

Grébovka (Havlíčkovy Sady) is an excellent park to spend some time relaxing in the Vinohrady neighborhood.
In the park alone there’s plenty to see here. Don’t miss the gorgeous grotto water fountain, wandering the pavilion with great vistas, and visiting the wine cellar.
Take a good hour or two to explore this wonderful neighborhood Renaissance-inspired playground in Vinohrady.
Stop at the Grotto

The grotto in Grébovka is a wonderful place to take some photos. Climb around this artificially built cave in the center of this sprawling green park. Follow the winding tunnels to get different views of the neighborhood. The tunnels eventually lead to the top of the fountain which offers a viewpoint that overlooks this gorgeous fountain.
There are plenty of benches that encircle the grotto. For how special this place is, it’s never usually packed full of people. This is a quiet place to enjoy something different in the center of the Vinohrady neighborhood.
Stroll the Park
After the grotto, take a walk through the park where you’ll find fountains, lots of benches, open fields, and usually some locals strumming on a guitar. There is a pavilion that has little stands selling beverages. Make sure to check views from here.
If you’re lucky, there are oftentimes bands and musicians playing around the back.
Wine Cellar Sklep Grébovka

Vinohrady has been home to vineyards since the 14th century (some say as early as the 13th century). Why not sample wine straight from the Royal Vineyards?
Grébovka Wine Cellar has been in operation since 2009. This treasure is perfectly tucked away on the rolling hillside of Havlíčkovy Sady. It is only open on Fridays.
Walk into a cavernous cellar that pours wine directly from the tap. This wine is sourced from the grapes in this very vineyard. Casually walk the dirt paths of the lovely vineyard. Sip on local wine and step inside the small, but most excellent cellar.
Grébovka Wine Cellar | Find it here: Havlíčkovy sady, 140 00, Vinohrady, Prague 2 | Hours: Fridays, 14:00 – 21: 00
Do as the locals do, and bring in a reusable plastic water bottle to take the delicious wine to go. This wine cellar offers local wine tastings and wines from the Moravian Wine Region.

Sip Moravian Wine at Vinotéka Noelka

Next, head to one of the best wine shops in Prague, Vinotéka Noelka. This establishment is one of those hidden gems in the Vinohrady neighborhood.
This Vinohrady wine shop pours off plenty of wines on tap and even has some unique specialty bottles. What I absolutely love about this place is its commitment to supporting small-batch wineries. The experience is completely authentic and original.
The shop owner speaks English and loves to help pair you up with the perfect wine companion.
Vinotéka Noelka | Find it here: Slavíkova 3, 120 00, Vinohrady, Prague 2
Do as the locals do, and spill out on the street sipping on juicy Moravian wines. Unless you decide on biking the Mikulov Wine Trail (which is awesome, by the way) this is one of the best places to sample varietals from the Moravian Wine Region.
Most visitors grab a glass and head out to the street. Find everybody from large groups of friends and couples on those awkward first dates at Vinotéka Noelka. This is also a great place to stock up on wine to go. Bring a reusable bottle and savor your favorite wine for later.
Prices for wine by the glass are some of the cheapest in the city but are of the highest quality.
Local Tip | Take your new favorite wine and head to Riegrovy Sady. For the perfect picnic, head across the street to Mikrofarma Praha, a top-rated butcher, to get sandwiches, sausages, or burgers to go.
Catch the Sunset at Riegrovy Sady

With its great hillside, Riegrovy Sady is an incredible place to catch a sunset in Prague. The park is slanted on a gently inclined hillside and provides incredible views of Prague Castle, which dominates the city’s skyline.
This is an amazing place to people watch and the park is buzzing with a youthful glow as bright as the sun.
There are some beer gardens with views like Mlíkárna which is strategically placed in the middle of the hill. Conveniently, they also sell to-go beverages. Additionally, there is another popular open-air beer garden with different food and drink options found just down the path, conveniently named Park Riegrovy Sady.
The more authentic experience is to watch the sunset of Prague’s skyline on fire while lying on the grassy hillside of Riegrovy Sady.
Dinner at One of the Best Restaurants in Vinohrady

After that fire sunset, enjoy one of the many best restaurants in the Vinohrady neighborhood. This district has many top restaurants serving traditional Czech cuisine to foods of the world.
✔ Kofein Restaurant is a long-standing restaurant in Vinohrady Prague that serves a lunch menu and interesting tapas in the evenings.
✔Neklid Restaurant sits on the border of the Vinohrady and Vršovice neighborhoods. It’s worth the long stroll at the edge of the district. The servers are friendly, the food delicious, and the prices extremely reasonable. What I’m still dreaming of: Španělský ptáček, a beef roulade that is stuffed with egg and other goodies. This slab of meat is swimming in a rich gravy.
✔Pho Vietnam Tuan & Lan is one of the best restaurants in Vinohrady for Vietnamese cuisine
✔ Soul Kitchen is a top-rated Greek eatery serving up all the classics from homemade Tzatziki sauce to fresh salads.
Low-Key Nightlife in Vinohrady District

It’s been a busy day, but if looking for a more chilled nightcap, try a beer at one of the small microbreweries, or a local pub pouring some unusual brews.
Vinohradský Pivovar
Vinohradský Pivovar is a restored brewery that dates back to the late 1800’s. The brewing process happens right in the basement of the building, so head downstairs to scope out the beautiful copper tanks.
The space is simple, but the message is clear. The focus is 100% on the taste of the beer. On a warm summer night, stand outside and watch the tram scoot on by.
This neighborhood brewery is also utilized as a community space. Check out their current events here.
OSSEGG Praha
Ossegg Praha is a concept brewery that is based on the traditional beer-making techniques derived from the monks of the Cistercian Abbey Brewery in Osek, Czech Republic. The beer maintains the traditional methods; however, OSSEGG pours off the beer in a sleek, modern facility.
The staff is super knowledgeable and offers generous, yet purely educational samples. Enjoy these unfiltered and unpasteurized brews on the outdoor patio, or head downstairs to see the brewing process in full swing. Notice the strategically placed photos of monks. They are still keeping a watchful eye on their beloved brews.
BeerGeek
BeerGeek is a craft beer lover’s haven. Their specialty is strictly craft beer, so don’t expect to find the usual brews here, like Pilsner Urquell. BeerGeek’s pride and joy is their 32 beers on tap which rotate frequently. The beer list is diverse and the beers can be found from all around the globe.
BeerGeek offers something a little different for those looking to take a break from the standard Czech beers.
